Cooking and baking is my passion and is a delightful addiction…
I grew up in the eastern city of Enschede, a happy child in carefree surroundings. After school I went to work in hotels in England and Switzerland. After returning home I went to Amsterdam where I took pastry baking classes with Wim van der Bijl. I worked as an apprentice in the kitchen of Amsterdam’s famous Amstel Hotel under the wings of Amstel’s chef John Halvemaan. It was a learning experience without compare.
In 2002 we moved with our children from Amsterdam to the tiny village of Hemmen, just south of Wageningen in the Betuwe region, where I set up my own catering business “Pauline’s Cuisine”.
